Performance Features
The Subaru Outback Wilderness uses a 2.4-liter turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® four-cylinder engine producing 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. Revised transmission gearing and an increased final-drive ratio improve low-speed climbing performance, while standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive continuously manages power between all four wheels.
Wilderness-specific upgrades include a raised suspension with electronically controlled dampers and 9.5 inches of ground clearance. Dual-function X-MODE® provides settings for Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud, while unique front and rear bumpers improve the approach and departure angles for navigating uneven terrain.
The Subaru Outback Wilderness can also tow up to 3,500 lbs when properly equipped. Standard 17-inch matte-black wheels with all-terrain tires provide additional traction when traveling on gravel, dirt, mud, and other loose surfaces.
Interior Features
This new Subaru vehicle provides plenty of room for passengers and equipment. The Subaru Outback platform offers 43.0 inches of front legroom and 39.5 inches of rear legroom, along with 41.0 inches of front headroom and 40.5 inches of rear headroom in configurations without a moonroof. Maximum cargo capacity reaches 80.5 cu. ft. with the rear seatbacks folded.
Technology Features
The Subaru Outback platform offers a 12.1-inch Subaru Multimedia System that places entertainment, navigation, and vehicle functions within a large central display. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration allows you to connect a compatible smartphone without using a cable.
Available technology can also include a Harman Kardon® premium audio system, wireless smartphone charging, and multiple USB charging ports. These features make it easier to keep devices connected and charged whether you're commuting around San Antonio or traveling farther from home.
Safety Features
EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology provides a collection of active safety systems designed to monitor surrounding traffic and provide assistance in certain situations. The latest Subaru Outback platform adds enhanced sensors to improve the system's ability to recognize vehicles, pedestrians, and other potential hazards.
Blind-Spot Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Warning provide additional awareness around the vehicle, while Reverse Automatic Braking can intervene if the system detects a potential obstacle while backing up. Available Hands-Free Assist and Emergency Stop Assist with Safe Lane Selection provide additional driver-assistance capabilities.
FAQs
Can you put a rooftop tent on the Subaru Outback Wilderness?
Yes. The Subaru Outback Wilderness roof rails can support up to 800 lbs of static weight when the vehicle is parked. That capacity allows the roof to accommodate many compatible rooftop tent systems, although you should always verify the combined weight of the tent, occupants, and equipment before use.
What fuel does the Subaru Outback Wilderness use?
Despite using a turbocharged engine, the Subaru Outback Wilderness is designed to run on regular unleaded gasoline with an 87-octane rating. This means premium gasoline is not required for normal operation.
Is the 2027 Subaru Outback Wilderness good for camping?
The 2027 Subaru Outback Wilderness camping capability benefits from its spacious cargo area, high-capacity roof rails, towing capability, and equipment designed for traveling beyond paved roads. These features provide several ways to transport tents, recreational equipment, and other supplies when you're preparing for a weekend outdoors.
