How Subaru EyeSight® Works
Subaru EyeSight® uses dual forward-facing stereo cameras mounted near the top of the windshield. These cameras detect vehicles, pedestrians, and lane markings while continuously calculating distance and speed. By analyzing this data in real time, the system can assist with braking, throttle control, and steering support when needed.
Adaptive Cruise Control
Adaptive Cruise Control allows Subaru EyeSight® to maintain a preset speed while automatically adjusting to keep a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. In new Subaru models with this feature, the system can slow the vehicle in traffic and, on many configurations, bring it to a complete stop before resuming when traffic begins moving again.
Pre-Collision Braking
Pre-Collision Braking is designed to detect potential frontal collisions. If the driver does not respond in time, the system can automatically apply braking force to help reduce impact speed or avoid certain low-speed crashes.
Pre-Collision Throttle Management is especially useful in parking situations. If an obstacle is detected ahead and sudden acceleration occurs, the system can limit engine power to help reduce unintended forward movement.
Lane Centering and Lane Departure Support
On clearly marked roads, Subaru EyeSight® provides Lane Centering and Lane Departure Warning. If the vehicle begins to drift outside its lane without signaling, the system can issue visual and audible alerts and, in many cases, apply gentle steering input to guide the vehicle back toward the center.
